Section 1B: Your Phone: The Basics
Key Functions
1.
Speaker Key
(
t
) turns the speakerphone on and off
during phone calls and Nextel Walkie-Talkie calls. You
can also use it to answer phone calls in speaker mode.
When the phone is closed, it can be used with the Smart
Key (
.
) to make a phone call from the Call History list.
2.
Volume Keys
allow you to adjust the ringer volume in
standby mode or adjust the voice volume during a call.
To mute the ringer during an incoming call, press the
volume key up or down.

Direct Connect Button
allows you to use your phone as a
long-range, digital walkie-talkie.
4.
Audio Connector
allows you to plug in an optional
headset for convenient, hands-free conversations. Your
Direct Connect headset can only use this connector.
5.
Speaker
lets you hear the caller and automated phone
prompts when using speaker mode.
6.
External Display
provides information such as incoming
call notification, date and time, signal coverage, and
battery strength when your phone is closed.
7.
Retractable Antenna
can be extended to optimize your
phone’s performance during phone calls, Nextel Direct
Connect calls, and data sessions.
Note
The use of wireless phones while driving may cause
distraction. Discontinue a call if you can’t concentrate on
driving. Additionally, the use of wireless devices and their
accessories may be prohibited or restricted in certain areas.
Always obey the laws and regulations on the use of these
products.
