In the Device setup screen there are numerous settings:
a.
Device Name
: This name is for User Interface only and has no significance
as to the topic name.
b.
Broker Address
: There are two slots for Broker Addresses. mCore will try to
open a connection to Broker Address 1 and then will cycle to Broker
Address 2 based on the settings described in more detail below. And will
continue through all the broker addresses until if finds a connection.
c.
Transport:
This protocol can be use on unencrypted TCP/IP or you can
choose TLS-SSL.
d.
CA Certificate:
To upload the root certificate(s) to be used to validate the
broker's certificate.
e.
Skip Name Check:
This check box disables the checking of the peer name in
the broker certificate.
f.
MQTT Port
: you can set any port you want if it is setup on both the broker
and the publisher. Standard ports are 1883 for TCP/IP and 8883 for TLS-SSL
.
g.
Client ID
: This is a value included in the header of each message. It is used
as part of the default topic name. In addition, it can just be used by the
broker to help identify a publisher. If left at
Default
, mCore’s serial number
will be used.
h.
Username and Password
: These are the credentials to authenticate the
publisher to the broker.
i.
Group Name
: The group name under which the device will publish data.
j.
Node Name
: The node name under which the device will publish data.
k.
Host ID
: The Host ID that the client will look for on the server.
m.
Allow Reboot Checkbox
: Allows the server to reboot this device.
l.
Compression
: We do offer two types of compression, gzip and zlib.
However, you do not have to use any compression and the subscriber
MUST be able to decompress the packets. Compression is transparent to
the broker.
