Installation
7. Remove the jack from underneath the suspension
cradle (or suspension cross member, depending on
your unit).
8. Remove the jack stands from underneath the
machine.
To adjust the spring pre-load:
1. Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Engage
the parking brake, disengage the PTO, turn the
ignition switch to OFF, and remove the ignition key.
2. Chock the front wheels of the machine to prevent
the machine from rolling.
3. Raise the rear of the machine and secure with jack
stands.
4. Remove the rear drive tires.
5. To adjust the spring pre-load of the shock
assembly (
A,
Figure 2
) insert the tip of the spanner
wrench (p/n 5022853) (
B
), that came with the zero-
turn riding mower, into the notch of the pre-load
adjuster (
C
). While holding the spanner wrench
in place with one hand, turn
counter-clockwise
to increase the amount of pre-load. (Turning
clockwise
will decrease the amount of pre-load.)
Make sure that both rear shock assemblies are
adjusted to the same pre-load position.
6. Re-install the rear drive tires. Torque the lug bolts
to 85-91 ft. lbs. (115-129 Nm). Remove the jack
stands from under the machine.
NOTE: If the spanner wrench is not located in a clamp
under the seat plate of your unit, it was included with
the publication packet for the zero-turn riding mower.
