White bread in tin
Serves 12
Ingredients
1 kg strong white flour
1 cube of fresh yeast (42 g)
2 tsp salt
4 tsp caster sugar
40 g melted butter
600–700 ml milk, lukewarm
For glazing
3 tbsp milk
Method
Stir the yeast into a little lukewarm milk
until it has dissolved. Mix with the flour,
salt, caster sugar, melted butter and
the rest of the milk to a smooth dough.
Transfer the dough into a large loaf tin
(15 cm wide). Make a 1/2 cm cut down
the centre of the loaf and brush with
milk.
Prove in the oven for approx. 30
minutes at 50 °C using Conventional
heat until the loaf has doubled in size,
then bake until golden.
