Reactivating the water softener
When the
k
indicator light on the left
hand side of the control panel comes
on during a programme, the built-in
water softener is depleted and cannot
supply any more softened water.
It must therefore be reactivated as
soon as the wash programme has fin-
ished.
If this cannot be done immediately and
further batches have been washed,
then the reactivation process must be
carried out twice in succession.
Use only pure specialised reactivation
salt, if possible coarse-grained dish-
washer reactivation salt with granules
of approximately 1-4 mm. Under no cir-
cumstances must other salts be used,
e.g.table salt or gritting salt. These
could contain components which are in-
soluble in water which could result in
damage to the water softener.
The salt container holds about 2 kg.
Important
If the only reactivation salt available is
fine grain, please consult your Miele
representative.
Reactivation salt with granules larger
than 4 mm cannot be used.
Do not put detergents in the salt
container! This can damage the
water softener,
and block the filter closure, causing
a pressure build-up in the salt con-
tainer.
When removing the salt container
there is a risk of burns and corro-
sion from corrosive alkaline ma-
terials.
Before filling the salt container, en-
sure that you have a dishwasher
salt pack in your hand.
Filling the salt container
Unscrew the filter insert from the salt
container and remove.
Fill the salt container
with granular
salt
and screw the filter insert back
in place.
