PORTABLE GPS ANTENNA & CABLE INSTALLATION
The GPS antenna needs to be installed in the same position as shown in the below pictures for the tuning to be
correct. If the position is off the GPS module may have difficulty acquiring a fix. Care must be taken when routing
the antenna cable to avoid pinching the cable when the radio is reassembled. If the cable is pinched or length is
changed it may de-tune the GPS antenna causing problems acquiring a fix.
1. Disassemble radio per manufactures disassembly instructions in radio service manual.

IC F3023:
Mount the GPS antenna in the slot in the chassis for the volume control just under the rubber
gasket on top. Fix to radio using hot glue, RTV or epoxy, on the IC F3023 solder the antenna shield to the
radio shield and route the cable as shown, care should be taken not to pinch or fold the cable.
