DataDock Module Rear Panel
Hard disk module rear panel.
Connector - The connector on the rear of the module has been successfully tested with over 20,000 insertions
and removals.
The module mates with a connector inside the DataDock which has precision alignment pins that fit into the
two holes on the ends of the drive module connector. These pins insure that the connector pair is perfectly
aligned when the signal pins mate and prevents the possibility of bent connector pins that result from poorly
aligned connectors.
Another feature of the mating connector inside the DataDock unit is that it has pins of various lengths. Key
ground pins mate first to insure that possible static charges on the drive module are discharged before any
signal pins mate, preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge (ESD). After all
power and signal pins have mated, the final pin mates to tell the DataDock control electronics that the
connector is completely engaged and that it is safe to begin the power-up sequence.
Connector shroud - The shroud around the module connector provides protection against damage.
Serial number label - This label has the model number and serial number of the module. Refer to these
numbers when contacting MicroNet for service or support.
!
Removing this label will void the warranty.
Cooling vents - These should be kept clear of dust and debris to maintain airflow through the module.
Should the vents be blocked such that the drive is not receiving adequate cooling, the DataDock’s
temperature alarm will sound to alert you of the problem.
