Running the Demo

This section describes how to run the 1G loopback demo. The procedure involves transmitting packets 
from the network card of the host PC to the board using Cat Karat and verifying the packets transmitted 
to and received from the board using Wireshark.

The following procedure assumes that:

The PolarFire FPGA is programmed with the demo design programming file (.job). For more 
information, see 

Programming the Device Using FlashPro Express, 

page 23.

The Cat Karat and the Wireshark softwares are installed on the host PC.

To run the demo:

1.

Ensure that the RJ45 cable is connected from the host PC to the J15 connector on the board.

2.

Power up the board using the 

SW3

 slide switch.

3.

Confirm that LED 7 is glowing, indicating the Ethernet PHY link is up and running.

4.

Open the Cat Karat software from Start menu of the host PC.
