64 N2 Dialer Module—N2 Dialer Module (NDM)
IMPORTANT:
It is imperative that you properly program the N2 addresses for all
devices connected to the remote NDM. This is done in HVAC PRO
for Windows by loading the remote NDM configuration, selecting
Phone Number Configuration from the Action menu, and filling in
the Remote N2 Addresses field. This field must correctly list all N2
addresses for devices connected to the remote NDM.
If the remote NDM is programmed with the wrong N2 device addresses, however, the
following symptoms may occur:
●
If a local device’s address is inadvertently programmed in the remote NDM, that
local device will become disconnected each time the remote NDM becomes
disconnected. The NC will not even attempt to poll the device until the remote
NDM comes online.
●
If a remote device address is not programmed in the NDM, it will go offline each
time the remote NDM becomes disconnected.
●
If a remote device that was not added to Metasys is connected to a remote NDM that
is configured to dial in on alarm, an alarm or change of offline state from the device
will cause the NDM to repeatedly dial in. Since the device was not added to
Metasys, the alarm will never be acknowledged, thus causing the NDM to
continuously dial in.
●
If a local NDM on one N2 trunk is programmed to call a remote NDM that is
defined to be on another trunk, serious communications problems will occur
wherever the N2 addresses overlap on the two trunks. (The same thing will occur if
the second trunk was accidentally wired to the first trunk.)
