CD operation
CD operation
General information
The system may not be able to play audio
CDs with copy protection.
Only touch the CD on the sides.
Avoid touching the CD recording sur-
face with your fingers.
Clean the CD with a dry, lint-free cloth.
Wipe the CD in a straight line from the
center. Never wipe the CD in a circular
motion.
Switching to CD mode
Call up the CD main menu ( page 45).

Insert an audio CD into the single CD
player or the CD changer* (
page 40).
CD drive in the audio system control
unit
A CD drive (single CD player) is integrated
into the audio system. The drive can play
audio CDs.
CD changer*
The CD changer* can play audio CDs. The
CD changer* is concealed and located be-
hind a control panel faceplate in the center
console. See "Accessing CD changer*"
(
page 40) for more information.

In order to avoid distraction, which could
lead to an accident, only insert CDs when
the vehicle is at a standstill. The driver
should only operate the system when
road and traffic conditions permit.
Bear in mind that at a speed of just 30 mph/
h (approximately 50 km/h), your car is cov-
ering a distance of 50 feet (approximately
14 m) every second.

The CD drive and CD changer* are Class 1
laser products. There is a danger of invisible
laser radiation when you open or damage
the cover.
Do not remove the cover. The CD drive and
the CD changer* do not contain any parts
which can be serviced by the user. For safe-
ty reasons, have any necessary service work
performed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz
Center.
