Operating the gearshift lever

Risk of accident and injury
due to children left unattended in the
vehicle
If you leave children unaccompanied in the
vehicle, they could:
R
open doors, thereby endangering other
persons or road users.
R
get out of the vehicle and be hit by
oncoming traffic.
R
operate vehicle equipment and become
trapped, for example.
Moreover, children could also set the vehicle
in motion by, for example:
R
releasing the parking brake.
R
shifting the manual transmission into idle
position.
R
starting the engine.

Never leave children and animals unat‐
tended in the vehicle.

When leaving the vehicle, always take
the key with you and lock the vehicle.
This also applies to the Digital Vehicle
Key if the "Digital Vehicle Key" function
is activated via Mercedes me connect.

Keep the vehicle key out of reach of

If you shift between gears

6

you have to push the gearshift lever all
the way to the right, otherwise you
could inadvertently shift to a lower
gear.

Do not shift down at high speeds.

Damage of the coupling due to
improper use
Holding the vehicle on inclines with a slipping
clutch can damage it.

Do not allow the clutch to slip in order
to hold the vehicle on inclines.

Damage to the transmission by
shifting to reverse gear

Only shift into reverse gear
