Adding Coolant
If a small am ount of coolant has to be
added (due to evaporation of water),
plain w ater can be used.
If a larger quantity of coolant has to
be added, a 50/50 m ixture of water
and a nti-corrosion/antifreeze should
be used.
W arning:
Do not remove pressure cap on
coolant reservoir if engine tem pera­
ture is above 90° C/194° F. A llow
enginge to cool down before rem ov­
ing cap. The coolant reservoir co n ­
tains hot w ater and is under pressure.
Using a rag, turn cap to firs t notch to
relieve excess pressure. If opened
immediately, hot scalding fluid and
steam will be blown o u t under
pressure.
The drain plugs fo r the cooling
system are located on the right-hand
side on the engine block and the
b o tto m of the radiator.
Checking Coolant Level
The coolant level can be checked
visually at the transparent coolant
reservoir.
To check the coolant level, the vehicle
m ust be parked on level ground.
The coolant level m ust reach:
The marking (1, arrow) on the
reservoir when the engine is cold.
Approx. 2 cm /0.8 in higher when the
engine is at operating tem perature.
