Showing the “ o ld " setting firs t allows
fo r reconsideration of the decision to
store. If it is desirable to leave the
“ o ld ” frequency in m em ory rather
than exchanging it w ith the “ new ”
one, quickly release the button. The
“ o ld ” frequency will remain in m em
ory.
Any AM station can be stored
similarly on any button marked
EZ1
through [jjJJ
Stereo reception
The stereo indicator symbol
lights up if a stereo program is
received.
The radio is equipped with an
autom atic stereo/m ono sw itch that
electronically sw itches to m ono fo r
clear reception if a weak signal is
received. A special c irc u it provides
fo r a sm ooth change-over rather than
a hard sudden sw itching, thereby
reducing noise and interference.
The stereo indicator will remain lit
even if the receiver has changed to
the mono mode and will turn off at an
antenna signal considered insufficient
to provide acceptable reception qual
ity.
Tape Cassette playback
It is recom m ended to use only good
quality cassettes with a playback time
of not more than 60 to 90 m inutes
(C 60) or (C 90).
To start playback, insert a cassette
through the cassette door. Push the
cassette in until it is locked in its
playing position.
When the end of one playing side is
reached, the unit sw itches autom atic
ally to reverse fo r playing the second
track.
Manual reverse can be activated by
depressing the cassette track sw itch
button i » i t ! f i i . The built-in indica
to rs show the track of the cassette
the unit is playing back.
To stop playback, press the eject
b u tto n I * - — ‘| . The unit will auto
matically eject the cassette and
sw itch to radio reception.
For fast tape rewind press the fast
rewind button I r c u d . The button
will lock into position until the end of
the ta pe is reached or until the
eject
or fast fo r
w ard
button is activated.
A ccordingly, fo r fast forw ard trans
port of the tape, press the fast
forward button
.
When the radio is turned o ff by
pressing the “ OFF” side of the
I sw itch or by turning the
ignition key off, the cassette will
autom atically be ejected.
Care and maintenance
To avoid a deterioration o f the tone
quality, occasionally clean the tape
head with the special cleaner supplied
in your glove com partm ent or availa
ble through your dealer.
To set clock
Turn ignition key to position “ 1” or

Briefly press recessed tim e set
button 1 9 by using a pencil or
ballpoint pen.
Enter the time at w hich you want to
start the clo ck by sequentially press
ing fo u r of the to p row push buttons
H 3 through C D • The tim e entered
will be displayed.
