2.6.1
RJ-45 Connector “CONSOLE”
The port labeled “CONSOLE” is for a local host connection to the management module. This is
used the first time the gateway is connected. A harness is included in the package to connect to a
DB9 connection on a host PC. Connecting to a local host PC and following the instructions in the
Installation Guide, “Configuring the Gateway for the First Time”, must be done before any
remote management is available. For the Socket pinout see “RJ-45 CONSOLE and I2C Inter-
face” on page 65
RJ-45 Ethernet Connector “MGT”
The 2 Ethernet connections labeled “MGT” provides
access for remote management. The gateway can be connected to any Ethernet port. The top
Ethernet port on the connector side of the gateway is mgmt0.
2.6.2
USB Connector
There is a single USB connector. This connector can be used to install software and or firmware
upgrades using a memory device that has a USB connector. This connector is USB 2.0 compli-
ant.
Each Ethernet connector gets connected to Ethernet switches. These switches must be
configured to 100M/1G auto-negotiation.
Use only FCC compliant Ethernet cables.
USB 1.0 is not supported.
