2. Insert the fan unit by sliding it into the opening until slight resistance is felt. Continue press-
ing the fan unit until it seats completely.

Configuration
3.7.1
Configuring the Gateway for the First Time
The procedures described in this chapter assume that you have already installed and powered-on
your gateway according to the instructions in this document.
These gateways must be configured before they will work. Follow the procedures below to con-
figure the gateway
To configure the Gateway:
1. Connect the host PC to the Console (RJ-45) port of the gateway system using the supplied
cable. The Console ports for systems are shown below as examples.
The port labelled CONSOLE must be connected to a local host PC. This must be used the first
time the gateway is connected. This must be done before any remote management is available.
Hook up the supplied harness cable (HAR00028) from the connector labelled CONSOLE to the
DB9 connector of the local host PC.

The green fan status indicator should light. If not, extract the fan unit and reinsert it.
After two unsuccessful attempts to install the fan unit, power off the
gateway
before
attempting any system debug.
Make sure to connect to the Console RJ-45 port of the gateway and not to the (Ether-
net) MGT port.
