• Only use the controls when the motor is running.
• Check that all controls and protective devices work by driving slowly in an open area.
• Be aware of any potential problems which require repairing the sweeper.
• Report any defects requiring action.
• Run the sweeper at a low motor speed. Check that the brush rotates as it should and that the
sweeper moves forward.
• In order to avoid unnecessary wear, check that the downward pressure on the brush sections is not
too high. A five to ten centimetre-wide pattern is enough in most cases.
• Direct the kickback by angling the brush head in the desired direction.
• Think about the direction of the wind. Sweeping with the wind is more effective and also prevents the
user from getting debris on themselves.
• Be careful and do not drive straight into large piles.
• Make sure there is no dirt, rubbish, fat and oil on the sweeper’s handles and controls.
• Ensure that no one is in the vicinity of the sweeper when it is operating.
• Never let anyone ride on the sweeper.
• Only drive the sweeper from the designated place of operation.
• Never leave the sweeper unattended when the motor is on or with accessories in an upward position.
• Never change and never remove safety devices from the motor or accessories.
• Inform yourself about all applicable safety regulations and traffic regulations which apply at the workplace.
• Contact the foreman or safety supervisor if you are uncertain.
Settings
• Large areas
– If you are going to sweep larger areas, such as parking lots, then you should begin with one
round in the middle and then brushing outward towards both sides in order to reduce the
amount of debris the sweeper must handle.
• Snowy
– For snow, a high brush speed and low driving speed are most effective. For slush and/or deep
snow, you should use nearly full speed as this prevents the snow from becoming packed inside
the brush hood.
– In deep snow, you may have to sweep several times in order to get down to the bare ground.
– Always sweep along with the direction of the wind so that the snow does not blow back onto
the swept area.
• Dirt and gravel
– It is best to sweep when it is cloudy or humid or right after it has rained so that the sweeper
does not kick up dust unnecessarily. Always sweep in the direction of the wind.
– To remove debris from hard surfaces, a low brush speed with a medium-high driving speed is
most effective. This is because a high brush speed creates more dust.
