Remove and Replace the Hard Drive
2. Make sure to select the View, Advanced Mode from the IMSMC as when a
hard drive is removed or if a hard drive fails, will display the failed hard
drive as either “Missing” or “Failed”. The RAID Volume will display the
status as “Degraded” indicating that the Mirror protection is broken. In
Figure 2-1
, the example illustrates that HDD 1 has failed.

Remove the Hard Drive
You can remove a hard drive while the unit is operating and without powering
off the unit.
Follow these steps:
1. Pull the hard drive handle forward and out. The hard drive will move out
from the slot as shown in
Figure 2-2
.
2. Remove the hard drive.
