TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
Problem: The CLKTCD12 is unable to detect and decode (“lock”) time code after 2
minutes.
Problem: The RED status LED is always ON.
Problem: The time is incorrect.
Possible reasons/solutions:
1. The CLKTCD12 is not currently connected to a valid time code source.
2. There is a problem with the cabling between the CLKTCD12 and the time code
source. Verify that all cables and connectors are working, in good condition, and that
proper pin-out connections have been observed.
3. There is a ground loop or other type of interference between the CLKTCD12 and the
time code source. Verify that a common ground exists between the CLKTCD12 and
the time code source. If the cabling distance between the time code source and the
CLKTCD12 is large you might consider inserting an audio distribution amplifier or a
Masterclock TCA100 time code amplifier between the devices.
4. The signal level of the incoming time code is out of the range of the CLKTCD12’s
time code decoder’s circuitry. See the CLKTCD12 specification section for
acceptable signal level ranges.
5. The time code being fed to the CLKTCD12 is not a recognized format. Verify that
your time code source is providing one of the time code formats that the CLKTCD12
can decode. See the CLKTCD12 specification section for acceptable time code
formats
Problem: The CLKTCD12 is not displaying the correct [local] time.
Possible reasons/solutions:
1. The unit is not receiving time code. Verify that the front LED status indicator is not
ON.
2. The time code source is referenced to UTC(GMT) but your local time zone has not
been configured.
3. Your switch settings for TZ/DST may have been overridden by the USB
configuration utility.
4. You may be seeing the result of a double offset. Determine the time zone reference
of your time code source and then set the CLKTCD12’s time zone offset accordingly
to arrive at a correct displayed local time.
•
If the time code source is already providing time code with local time zone
&/or DST offsets, then set the time zone and/or DST offset of the clock to
UTC(GMT) [no offset].
•
If the time code source is providing UTC(GMT) time code, then configure
your clock to have a local time zone &/or DST offsets.
5. Your time code source is not providing the time/date that you expect. Contact the
individual responsible for the time code source for more information.
