D ]se shielded twistedKpair cable designed for RSK485 devices: standard microphone cable cannot transmit
D=c data reliably over long runs. Por lin7s up to 300 meters (1000 ft.) long, you can use 24 !_h, low
capacitance, 85K150 ohm characteristic impedance, shielded cable with 1 or more twisted pairs. Por runs
up to 500 meters (1640 ft.) use 22 !_h cable. ]se an amplifier if the serial lin7 exceeds 500 meters.
D Never use a iYk connector to split the lin7. To split the serial lin7 into branches use a splitter such as the
=artin 4KChannel 1ptoKIsolated RSK485 Splitter/!mplifier.
D Do not overload the lin7. ]p to 32 devices may be connected on a serial lin7.
D Terminate the lin7 by installing a termination plug in the output soc7et of the last fixture on the lin7. The
termination plug, which is simply a male cdR connector with a 120 ohm, 0.25 watt resistor soldered
between pins 2 and 3, isoa7s upk the control signal so it does not reflect bac7 down the lin7 and cause
interference. If a splitter is used, terminate each branch of the lin7.
