Outbound messages with data
use
S
as the Type. The letter S is always uppercase. The S in the
Type location indicates to the network device that this is a message to be sent to a DOS terminal
and is not a protocol message.
Here is an example of an outbound message type:

is an outbound message type that is sent
from the host computer to terminal ID 14.

The next character, after the Type character, in the message format is CTRL.
Protocol Messages
Protocol messages
do not use M or S as Type. The Type for a host to network device protocol
message is always one of the following:
B, L, O, QC, QR, R, Z
or
?
.

explanations and the expected responses, for example, from network devices.
