Cleaning
Clean the device
– Remove coarse dirt.
– Wipe down the device with a slightly
damp cloth.
Cleaning the oil guide groove of the saw
rail
– Removing the saw rail.
– Clean dirt from the oil guide groove of the
saw rail with a suitable tool.
– Replace the saw rail (
rail and sawing chain – p. 11).
Checking the tensioning of the saw chain
The saw chain is tensioned correctly if it lies
close against the underside of the saw rail
and can be moved easily by hand.
– Loosen the chain brake (snap in the hand
guard towards the back).
– By turning the saw chain by hand, check
to see that it is running correctly.
– Readjust tension of the saw chain when
necessary (
Checking the chain greasing
– Check the oil in the saw chain oil tank and
fill up if necessary (
– Start the motor and press the throttle
through (
– Hold the running saw chain approx. 15
cm over a suitable surface for a short
time.
If there is sufficient chain greasing, the oil
spraying off of the saw chain will form a slight
trail.
Lubricating chain wheel
The bearing of the chain wheel should be
regularly lubricated at the front-end of the
rail. About 1× in a week in case of intensive
use.
– Clean the lubrication hole.
– Apply little multi-purpose grease in the
lubrication hole, while moving the chain
with hand.
Checking the chain brake
The chain brake ensures immediate blocking
of the saw chain in case of a rebound. Before
beginning work with the device, it must be
checked to ensure that it is functioning cor-
rectly.
– Set device on the ground.
– Tip the hand guard towards the back.
– Start the motor and press the throttle
through.
– Tip the hand guard forwards. The chain
must stop immediately.
– If the chain brake is not working correctly,
have the device checked by an expert
immediately.
Sharpening the saw chain

How?
Clean the air filter.
Check the spark plug.
NOTICE! Device damage!
To clean
the saw rail, use only a plastic spat-
ula, never a steel tool.
DANGER! Risk of injury!
A new saw
chain must be re-tensioned after a
maximum of five cuts. This is normal
during the run-in time; the intervals
between subsequent re-tensionings
will get larger.
NOTICE! Device damage!
The
device may not be used without suf-
ficient chain greasing.
Insufficient greasing reduces the ser-
vice life of the device.
DANGER! Danger of death!
Spe-
cial tools are required to sharpen the
saw chain; these guarantee that the
chain cuts at the correct angle and
depth. Have the saw chain sharp-
ened by a professional!
A worn or improperly sharpened
chain can cause rebounds. Severe or
even fatal injuries can be the result!
