Replacing the caboose’s rear light
T
he rear of your caboose is illuminated by one 12-volt flashing lamp, Lionel part
no. 610-7606-009. During the course of normal operations, this lamp may require
replacement. Replacement lamps are available at your authorized Lionel Service Center or from
Lionel Service in Chesterfield, MI.
1. Carefully lift the curved ends of the ladders out of the slots in the roof. Refer to Figure 18 on
page 34.
Be careful not to scratch the caboose roof with the ends of the ladders.
2. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screws from both ends of the car. Refer to
Figure 19 on page 34.
3. Lift away the body.
Be careful with the wires that attach the body to the frame.
4. Follow the two wires from the expired lamp to their wire nut connections. Unscrew the two
wire nuts and separate the wires to free the lamp. Push the expired light out through the
front of the housing. Refer to Figure 21.
5. To install the replacement lamp, slide the
wires through the light tube, twist the end of
each wire to the exposed wires, and screw the
wire nuts over the connections.
6. Rest the two end platforms on the frame. Note
that the frame tabs should be inserted into the
opening on the ends of the steps.
7. Replace the body onto the frame. The two end
platform posts and the tabs that receive the
screws should be located inside the body.
8. Replace the screws at the ends of the car.
9. Carefully replace the ends of the ladders back
into the slots in the roof.
