Chapter 4:
Assembling the Odyssey Sa System
Introduction
Though not intended to be an installation guide, this chapter gives basic information on assembling
the Odyssey Sa Infrared Imaging System. The Odyssey Sa Imager is a network server device that
connects to a network, and ultimately to a computer, via TCP/IP. The network configuration of the
Odyssey Sa instrument can be set to automatic or manual. An autodiscovery process will discover
the Odyssey Sa Imager, allowing the Image Studio software running on a computer to establish
communication without any user configuration.
Import the Odyssey Sa Express Software Key
The Odyssey Sa Express software allows the user to setup multiple scans using an automated plate
stacker, such as the BioTek® BioStack™ plate stacker (see
Installing a BioTek® BioStack™ Plate
on page 31). The Odyssey Sa Express software CD is purchased separately. If you have
purchased the Odyssey Sa Express software, follow the directions below to add the software to Image
Studio.
1) Insert the Odyssey Sa Express software key CD.
2) Click the Application Menu Button and click
Import Key
.
3) Browse to the Odyssey Sa Express Software key file on the CD and click
Open
.
4) Click
OK
in the pop-up window and restart Image Studio software.
Assembling the Odyssey Sa System
Since this chapter is not an installation guide, it is assumed the computer is setup according to the
manufacturer’s instructions. Use the Windows® control panels to make sure the
Date and Time
control panel is set accurately, and that the
Power Options
control panel has all power
management options set to
Never
. Set the network configuration to ‘Obtain an IP address
automatically.’
1) Start with both the computer and instrument turned off.
2) Connect the included Cat. 5 RJ45 cable to the network port on the Odyssey Sa Imager. The net-
work port is identified in Chapter 2.
Note:
Use only the networking cables provided with the Odyssey Sa Imager.
3) Connect the other end of the Cat. 5 RJ45 cable to the network port on the computer.
