• On/Off switch connector
• On/Off switch power supply connector
• System board power supply connectors
• Microprocessor connection
Reseat connectors.
Check the power cord for continuity.

Beep symptoms
Beep symptoms are tones or a series of tones separated by pauses (intervals without sound) during the
POST.
The following table describes beep symptoms and provides suggested actions to correct detected problems.
Symptom Error FRU/Action
3 short beeps and 1 long beep Memory not detected Perform the following actions in order:
1. Make sure that the memory
module(s) are properly seated in
the connector(s).
2. Replace the memory module(s).
3. Replace the system board.

Common POST error
Indicates that an error has occurred
during the POST.
POST error codes
Each time you turn on the system, it performs a series of tests that checks the operation of the system and
options. This series of tests is called the
power-on self-test , or POST .
The POST performs the following operations:
• Checks some basic system board operations
• Checks the memory operation
• Checks the video operation
• Verifies that the boot drive is working
If the POST detects a problem, an error message will be displayed on the screen. A single problem can
cause several error messages. When you correct the cause of the first error message, probably the other
error messages will not be displayed the next time you turn on the computer.

00CE Machine Type or Serial Number is INVALID
This error message is displayed when the machine
type or the serial number is invalid.
0210 Stuck key This error message is displayed when a key is kept
pressed for a long time.
