You have now established basic pre-weld settings that you will use to weld a test strip.
Remember, these are only starting values to which all subsequent changes will be referenced.
7.0 Operations
This section describes the operation of the SEAMTEK 36. Here you will learn how to place the
fabric in the weld head, weld a test strip, and weld a typical seam. Foot pedal corrections and
other in-operation adjustments are also covered in this section.
7.1 Placing Fabric in the Weld Head
When all system pre-weld requirements have been met, you are ready to begin welding. Before
a good seam can be achieved, you will need to correctly position the fabric in the weld head.
You do this by using the RAISE WHEEL and BOTH + (FREEWHEEL) foot pedal switches located on
the lower and upper left-hand side of the foot pedal assembly. It's a good idea to practice this a
few times before you run a seam.
Here's a closer look at how this is done:
1.
Before you begin, place the Nozzle In/Out switch in the OUT position. This prevents the
heated nozzle from entering the weld area, but all other systems operate normally.
2.
Next, press the foot pedal labeled RAISE WHEEL located on the lower-left side of the foot
pedal assembly.
The upper wheel module rises, allowing the fabric to be placed in position.
3.
Now place the fabric in position on the bottom wheel. How you do this depends on the type
of seam you are welding.
4.
Release the RAISE WHEEL foot pedal switch.
The upper wheel lowers onto the fabric where it is held in position using the CLAMP
pressure only.
5.
If necessary, press the RAISE WHEEL foot pedal again to raise the upper wheel modules and
realign the fabric panels. You now have the fabric panels aligned left and right.
6.
If you wish to pull both fabric panels forward to minimize the amount of unwelded fabric
behind the wheel, while holding the fabric with both hands, press the BOTH + (FREEWHEEL)
foot pedal switch located in the upper left row of the foot pedal assembly.
