SELF-TIMER
The self-timer function allows taking pictures with a preset time
delay. We recommend that the camera is placed on a tripod.

▸ Shutter release
• The remaining time until exposure is counted down on screen.
The self-timer LED at the front of the camera counts down the
delay time. It fl ashes slowly during the fi rst 10 s, then fast for
the last 2 s.
• The self-timer delay time can be canceled at any time by
taping the shutter button; the relevant settings remain intact.
Notes
• In self-timer mode, the exposure value is set just before the
picture is taken and not when the shutter button is pressed.
• The self-timer function remains active until it is deactivated via
the menu or the camera is switched off .
• Exposure metering is done fi rst; in autofocus mode, focusing is
fi rst. The delay time only starts after this.
FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY
The camera determines the necessary fl ash intensity by fi ring one
or more pre-fl ashes before taking the actual picture. The main fl ash
fi res immediately after, i.e. during exposure
COMPATIBLE FLASH UNITS
The entire scope of functions described in this instruction manual,
incl. TTL fl ash metering, is available only for Leica system fl ash
units like the SF 40. Other fl ash units, which only have a positive
center contact, can be safely fi red via the Leica SL2, but cannot be
controlled via the camera. Correct function cannot be guaranteed
when using any other fl ash unit.
Note
• When using fl ash units that are not specifi cally designed for the
camera and can therefore not automatically switch over the
white balance of the camera should be used in the fl ash
setting.
Important
• The use of incompatible fl ash units with your Leica SL2 may
result in irreparable damage to the camera and/or the fl ash unit.
