3-9 COULTER GANG AND SCRAPER ASSEMBLY
3-9.1
Roll one of the coulter gangs under the
front of the frame. Refer to
Figures 2-1
through 2-6
for location of different length
coulter gangs. Select coulter gang with arm
to align with spring bracket on frame.
NOTE: Use side drilled half bearing on top of
tube. Zerk should be toward outside of ma-
chine.
3-9.2
Carefully lower machine down to coulter
gang so that two lower half bearings can be
installed. Use necessary number of shim
washers between half bearings so coulter
bearing tube can rotate freely in half bearing,
but not be too loose. Tighten 5/8-11 x 8-1/2
or 11-3/4 hex head cap screws supporting
half bearings to proper torque
(See Figure
.
3-9.3
Lower machine to ground until spring arm
rotates forward to a vertical position. Put
coulter spring rod with tube and spring on it
from back to front through spring bracket.
Thread spring guide onto rod with spring rod
guide assembly. Tighten spring rod until it
reaches end of thread. Install 1-1/4-7 hex
jam nut to threaded rod.
a.
For manual adjustment option, install left
hand and right hand threads on radius rod
same number of turns until yoke can be con-
nected to upper end of coulter spring arm with
pin and cotter pins
(See Figure 3-10).
b.
For hydraulic adjustment option, apply loc-
tite to threads on adapter. Assemble the mas-
ter cylinder on the right main frame side by
connecting the adapter to the spring rod.
Then go to the right outer wing, left outer
wing, left main frame with respect to the ma-
chine size of equipment. Attach hoses with
respect to their coordinated lengths. Extend
cylinder to capture the coulter gang to the
base end clevis using a pin and cotter pins
3-9.4
Raise the machine to full height and repeat
with other coulter
gangs. When this is completed, raise ma-
chine to full height and lock in raised position
with cylinder lockouts.
3-9.5
Install center scraper assembly under front
cross beam so it is positioned between coul-
ter gangs using u-bolt and 5/8-11 hex lock
nuts. TIGHTEN HEX LOCK NUTS
(See Fig-
ure 3-9).
3-9.6
On wing models, install wing scraper onto
ends of the main frame using hitch side
plate, 3/4-10 x 4 hex head cap screws, and
hex lock nuts provided
(See Figure 3-9).
