WARNING
Fire and Explosion Hazard
■
Do not force the safety control valve’s button.
■
Use only your hand to depress the gas control
button. Never use any tools.
■
If the button will not depress by normal hand
pressure, the control should be replaced by a
quali
fi
ed service person.
■
Force or attempted repair may result in
fi
re or
explosion, causing property damage, severe
injury, or death.
Follow steps 1-6 on initial start-up before building popu-
lation. Ensure 5 PSIG gas supply pressure.
1. Open all gas supply valves to the heaters and check
for gas leaks using approved leak detectors.
2. If the High/Low valve is installed, position the valve
handle to HIGH heat position. (Handle parallel to gas
fl
ow). Otherwise, energize the zone control panel to
call for high heat.
3. Fully depress the button on the heater’s safety control
valve while applying
fl
ame through the emitter’s light-
ing hole. See Fig. 8.
4. Keep the button depressed for anywhere from 15-30
seconds to allow the thermocouple to warm up.
5. Release the button. The burner will stay lit. Complete
this step for all heaters.
6. Once all heaters are lit, set the building controller to
the desired temperature.
■
It is normal for air to be trapped in the gas supply line
on new installations.
■
It may take slightly longer for the heater to light and
stay lit until all air is purged from the gas supply line.
Shut Down Instructions
To shut the heater down for service, cleaning, or
maintenance:
1. Shut of the gas supply to all heaters.
2. Allow heaters to burn off the remaining gas in the
gas supply line.
