Inspection of optical fibres (
Laser ON
)
(KE895 only)
With the laser mode, it is possible to visually check optical fibres for small
breaks and strong bends and to identify the cable end of the connected cab-
le. Depending on the fibre type, the search distance is <10 km.
The laser diode is located on the upper side of the housing and is secured
with a red plug cap. This must be removed for laser operation.
The laser mode is started by briefly pressing the
Laser ON
button and the
status of the corresponding LED is displayed. In addition, a confirmation tone
sounds when the laser light source is switched on.
The
Frequency
key is used to select different modulations and pulse modes
similar to the Toner mode. This allows it to be used in combination with a po-
wer meter with demodulation functions at the end of the line, which can show
the frequency used in the display.
When the test is activated, the KE895 starts in CW mode (Continuous Wave)
and activates a constant laser beam. In Pulsed Mode (PM) the function LED
Laser ON
flashes every second. Further laser modes are switched through
with the
Frequency
key according to the following pattern:
