e) Make sure the PTO shaft length is correct
for the tractor being used.
1) Activate the tractor 3-pt linkage to line up
the tractor PTO and the machine input shaft
in the horizontal plane.
2) Attach the front half of the PTO shaft to the
tractor and align both front and rear PTO
shafts side by side (see second diagram).
If there is excessive overlap, as shown by
the hatched areas in the second diagram,
mark and shorten the transmission tubes
keeping a safety clearance of 1" (25mm)
between the ends of the tubes and the
yokes.
- Bevel and de-burr transmission tubes. Remove all steel chips and filings. Grease the inside
of the outer transmission tube.
- Shorten the guard tubes by the same length as the transmission tubes, as shown in the oppo-
site drawing.
- For your safety, there must be a minimum tube overlap 7" (180 mm) when the PTO shafts is
in its maximum extended position.
- Make sure the PTO shaft is connected to the 1000 rpm tractor PTO.
f) Connect the hydraulic hoses :
Two hydraulic remotes are required.
- The hose with a white band is for
mower’s lift cylinders. Connect hose
to the outlet for proper single acting
operation.
- The other two hoses operate the dou-
ble-acting tongue steering cylinder.
