BLADE REPLACEMENT
Worn blades should either be turned over to use the other cutting edge, or replaced.
Blades, bolts and nuts are made of special steel. Never use replacement parts other than
genuine KUHN spare parts.
To change a blade :
- Prevent the cutterbar from rotating by
putting a block of wood between two discs.
- Using the Kuhn wrench supplied or an
18mm socket to loosen the nuts.
- Rotate the disc to drop the bolt through the
hole in the disc guard.
- Check the blade, the bolt, and the nut (see
“blades, bolt and nuts inspection”, in this
chapter).
- Reverse the blade or replace it. Directional
arrows are stamped in each blade 559 032
10 (for counter clockwise rotating discs)
and 559 033 10 (for clockwise rotating
discs) indicating the direction of travel.
Blades fitted to an incorrect disc cause
rough cutting.
- Install the bolt, the blade and the nuts. Make
sure blade bolt is correctly positioned in its
groove. The bolt flats must be aligned with
the hole flats in the disc. The line marked
on top of the bolt must be directed to the
center of the disc. Be sure blade nut cup is
clean and free of debris before installing
nut.
- Tighten the nuts at 90ft. lbs / 12 daNm.
- Make sure blade rotates freely under the
disc.
