Instructions (Cont.)
Rice
This program is designed for cooking rice. It does not include automatic
stirring action. The default cooking time is 45 minutes, but you can adjust this
if your type or quantity of rice requires more or less time. At the end of the
cooking time, the multi-cooker will automatically
enter warm-keeping mode.
For best results:
• Use the supplied measuring cup to measure the required amounts of rice
and water. For white rice, add about the same amount of rice and water, for
brown rice add one-and-a-half times as much water. For example:
1 cup uncooked rice .....1–1½ cups water,
2 cups uncooked rice ...2–3 cups water,
3 cups uncooked rice ...3–4½ cups water, etc.
• The maximum amount of rice you can cook in the appliance is 10 cups.
• Wash and rinse the rice in a sieve under cold water to remove excess starch.
• Spread the washed rice evenly in the interior cooking pot, then add the
appropriate amount of water (or stock).
• Close the lid and press the ON | MENU button repeatedly until the
Rice
program is selected. Keep the lid closed during cooking.
• At the end of the cooking period, open the lid and turn the rice over with
the supplied rice spoon. Replace the lid and allow the rice to stand for
10–15 minutes to absorb excess moisture.
RICE AND WATER QUANTITIES
Use the following ratios when measuring rice and water quantities:
• White rice
= 1 measuring cup rice + 1 measuring cup water (or stock)
• Brown rice
= 1 measuring cup rice + 1½ measuring cups water (or stock)
• Use the brown rice ratio for cooking
Arborio
or
sushi
rice
or
quinoa.
The supplied measuring cup holds 150–160mL, which is less than a standard
metric cup (250mL). If your recipe gives quantities in standard metric cups,
maintain the same cooking ratio of rice to water.
The cup and litre markings inside the inner cooking pot give the total level of
(uncooked) rice and water in the pot. When using these as a quantities guide,
make sure to use the supplied measuring cup. For example:
• For 2 measuring cups rice, fill the pot with water up to the [ 2 ] marking.
• For 10 measuring cups rice, fill the pot with water up to the [ 10 ] marking.
