12.9 Removing the lower triple clamp
Preparatory work
–
Remove the headlight mask with the headlight. ( p. 91)
–
Raise the motorcycle with the lift stand. ( p. 50)
–
Remove the front wheel. ( p. 82)
–
Remove the fork legs. ( p. 52)
–
Remove the front fender. ( p. 56)
–
Remove the handlebar cushion.

Main work
–
Open the cable holder in front of the right radiator and detach the wiring harness.
–
Remove screws  and hang the voltage regulator to the side.
–
Open the cable holder in front of the left radiator and detach the wiring harness.
–
Loosen screw  .
–
Remove screw


–
Take off the upper triple clamp with the handlebar and set it aside.
Info
Cover the components to protect them against damage.
Do not kink the cables and lines.

Remove O-ring

and protective ring


–
Take off the lower triple clamp with the steering stem.
–
Remove the upper steering head bearing.

Main work
–
Clean the bearing and sealing elements, check for damage, and grease.
High viscosity grease ( p. 119)
–
Insert the lower triple clamp with the steering stem. Mount the upper steering head
bearing.
–
Check whether upper steering head seal

is correctly positioned.
–
Slide on protective ring

and O-ring

