Preventing ignition of flammable atmospheres

Preventing ignition of flammable atmospheres

Preventing ignition of flammable atmospheres

Preventing ignition of flammable atmospheres

Since live maintenance is not specified, to prevent ignition of flammable atmospheres,
disconnect power before servicing unless the area is certified to be non hazardous.

The following conditions apply when the vortex flowmeters are used in hazardous gas and
explosive dusts atmospheres:

The flow sensor of the remote version shall only be connected to the remote signal converter
type OPTISWIRL VFC 080F, bearing certificate number
Sira 19ATEX2001X / IECEx SIR 19.0001X.

If the fixing bolts are to be replaced, they shall be replaced with bolts with a tensile strength
of at least 240 N/mm

Devices marked as category 1 G or EPL Ga

Devices marked as category 1 G or EPL Ga

Devices marked as category II 1 G or equipment protection level Ga and used in hazardous areas
requiring this category must be installed in such a way that, even in the event of rare incidents,
these products cannot become an ignition source.

The following conditions apply when the vortex flowmeters are used in hazardous gas
atmospheres only and are not applicable when used with explosive dusts:

The negative terminal of the loop power shall only be connected to a load resistor to the
negative side of the incoming power supply.

As aluminum is used at the accessible surface of the signal converter housing, in the event of
rare incidents, ignition sources due to impact and friction sparks could occur. This shall be
considered when the OPTISWIRL 5080 vortex flowmeter is being installed in group IIC, zone 0
classified locations.
