Any enclosure moisture accumulated on the evaporator coil is collected in the
condensate tray and released to the ambient air through the drain tube or the
condensate evaporator.
The heat removed through the evaporator coil is transferred by the compressed
refrigerant to the condenser coil. Ambient air or water is then passed through the
condenser coil, where it absorbs the heat and is then discharged to the environment.
Kooltronic Air Conditioners are designed to operate continuously in order to eliminate
compressor cycling, which shortens compressor life and causes line transients. The cool
air discharge temperature is regulated by the capacity control (hot gas bypass) valve. In
applications subject to over-cooling, a Low Temperature Control (thermostat) should be
considered. In applications having frequent voluntary or involuntary power interruptions,
a Short Cycle Protector is recommended to allow adequate time for the internal
pressures of the Air Conditioner to equalize before restarting.
VI. Pre-Installation Testing
The Air Conditioner may be operated during receiving inspection without a heat load.
ON THERMOSTAT-EQUIPPED UNITS, IF THE COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER BLOWER
(AMBIENT SIDE) FAIL TO OPERATE, THE THERMOSTAT MAY NEED ADJUSTMENT.
Adjust Thermostat setting downward until compressor and condenser blower start.
(Note factory setting first)
If unit is tested without heat load, be sure to reset Thermostat to factory setting prior
to installation and operation.
CAUTION
Refer to the identification label for proper electrical current requirements. Then connect
the power cord to a properly grounded and fused electrical supply.
Operate the Air Conditioner for approximately ten (10) minutes. During this period no
unusual noise or vibration should be evident. Both the condenser and evaporator
blowers should be delivering air through their respective discharge ports. The cool air
discharged should be less than 70° Fahrenheit when the room temperature is between
70° and 80° Fahrenheit. If the compressor and condenser blower (ambient side) fail to
operate on thermostat-equipped units, the thermostat may need adjustment. If any cover
plug is removed to adjust the unit, make certain to put the cover plug back in place to
maintain the integrity of the closed-loop airflow system.
NOTE:
Before shipment all Kooltronic Air Conditioners are subjected to a cooling
performance test at the rated capacity.
The Air Conditioner must be standing in its proper mounting position for a
minimum of five (5) minutes prior to testing. Failure to follow this procedure
will cause permanent damage to the compressor.
