The message "Failed
to connect to ma-
chine" appears. The machine has not been
turned on. Turn on the machine.
The device IP address entered
in IP Scanner is incorrect. Correct the IP address.
The TCP/IP setting for the
computer is incorrect. Check the network settings on the
computer.
Use of TCP/IP from this ma-
chine has been prohibited. Check with the administrator of the
machine.
The computer is not connect-
ed to a network. Check the network connections for the
computer.
The LAN cable is not connect-
ed. Check that the LAN cable is correctly
connected.
Although SSL settings are en-
abled, no certificate is in-
stalled. Install a certificated. For details, refer
to the User manual [Network Scanner
Operations].
Although SSL settings are en-
abled, a version of Internet Ex-
plorer that is earlier than 5.0 is
used. Use Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.
Although SSL settings are en-
abled, the encryption level for
Internet Explorer is less than
56 bits. Obtain the encryption pack from the
Microsoft Web site and install it.
A Security Alert message ap-
pears. Install a certificate.
The message "Con-
nection Failure with
ImageReceiver. Do
you want to start up
ImageReceiver?" ap-
pears. ImageReceiver was not start-
ed. Start ImageReceiver.
ImageReceiver is not operat-
ing correctly. Restart the computer.

Reminder
When turning the machine off,
then on again with the main
power switch, wait about 10
seconds to turn the machine
on after turning it off. The ma-
chine may not operate cor-
rectly if it is turned on
immediately after being
turned off.
The message "Im-
ageReceiver detect-
ed of XXX" appears. Other software is using this
port. • The mail server and IP Scanner can-
not be used together. Do not start
up the mail server. In addition, if oth-
er software is the cause, exit the
software that is causing the prob-
lem.
• Follow the instructions to change
the port.
