6 - WORKING OPERATIONS
Conditioner hood – Adjust
DANGER
Entanglement hazard!
Disengage the Power Take-Off (PTO), turn off
the engine, and remove the key. Wait for all
movement to stop before you leave the oper-
ator's position. Never adjust, lubricate, clean,
or remove a blockage of crop material when
the engine is on.
Failure to comply will result in death or serious
injury.

The conditioner hood

, conditions, and directs the crop toward the rear
of the implement.
In light crop conditions, adjust the conditioner hood closer
to the flails (or the PE fingers) to make sure that the fingers
are making contact with the crop stems.

The adjustable hex shaft

, which is adjacent to the
header tilt adjustment, controls the PE conditioner posi-
tion.
Adjust the distance between the conditioner hood and
the rotor as follows:
1. Remove the linchpin

2. Pull upward on the locking bracket

, and then pivot
the locking bracket forward off of the hex shaft.
3. Use the tool

to adjust the hex shaft.
○ Turn the hex shaft

clockwise to increase the level
of conditioning. When you turn the hex shaft

fully clockwise, the distance from the carriers

of
the rotor to the conditioner hood

is approximately
20 mm

0.79 in
).
○ Turn the hex shaft
(4)
counter-clockwise to decrease
the level of conditioning. When you turn the hex
shaft

fully counter-clockwise, the distance from
the carriers

of the rotor to the conditioner hood

is approximately
53 mm
(
2.09 in
).
NOTE:
To gain room to turn the hex shaft, remove
the hairpin cotter

and move the
TopDry™
system
adjustment handle

fully rearward.
4. Install the linchpin

through the hex shaft when the
adjustment is complete.
