2.8.9 STOP THE ENGINE BEFORE CAR-

RYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE
OPERATION OR INSPECTION

q

Stop the machine only on firm and level ground and stop the
engine before carrying out any maintenance operation or in-
spection.

q

If it is necessary to have the engine running during mainte-
nance, engage the safety LOCKS of the equipment control
levers, apply the parking brake and carry out any mainte-
nance operation with the help of another person; an operator
must remain on board and the words to be used during the
operation must be agreed upon.

NOTE

q

The servo control locking button inhibits also the movements
of the backhoe when this is equipped with servo controls.

q

The maintenance personnel must be very careful not to
touch any moving part of the engine.
