Identifi cation
Decal
Engine Identifi cation Numbers
When ordering parts, or in any communication
involving an engine, always give the
Model,
Speci
fi
cation and Serial Numbers,
including le
tt
er
su
ffi
xes if there are any.
The engine identi
fi
cation numbers appear on a decal,
or decals, a
ffi
xed to the engine shrouding. See Figure
1-1. An explanation of these numbers is shown in
Figure 1-2.
WARNING
Carbon Monoxide can cause severe
nausea, fainting or death.
Avoid inhaling exhaust fumes, and
never run the engine in a closed
building or con
fi
ned area.
Lethal Exhaust Gases!
Engine exhaust gases contain poisonous carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide is odorless, colorless, and can cause death
if inhaled. Avoid inhaling exhaust fumes, and never run the
engine in a closed building or con
fi
ned area.
CAUTION
Electrical Shock can cause injury.
Do not touch wires while engine is
running.
Electrical Shock!
Never touch electrical wires or components while the engine is
running. They can be sources of electrical shock.
WARNING
Cleaning Solvents can cause severe
injury or death.
Use only in well ventilated areas
away from ignition sources.
Flammable Solvents!
Carburetor cleaners and solvents are extremely
fl
ammable.
Keep sparks,
fl
ames, and other sources of ignition away from
the area. Follow the cleaner manufacturer’s warnings and
instructions on its proper and safe use. Never use gasoline as a
cleaning agent.

WARNING
High Pressure Fluids can puncture
skin and cause severe injury or
death.
Do not work on fuel system without
proper training or safety equipment.
High Pressure Fluid Puncture!
Fuel system is to be serviced only by properly trained
personnel wearing protective safety equipment. Fluid
puncture injuries are highly toxic and hazardous. If an injury
occurs, seek immediate medical a
tt
ention.
WARNING
Explosive Fuel can cause

res and
severe burns.
Fuel systems ALWAYS remains under
HIGH PRESSURE.
Fuel Fire and Burns!
Wrap a shop towel completely around the fuel pump module
connector. Press the release bu
tt
on(s) and slowly pull the
connector away from the fuel pump module allowing the shop
towel to absorb any residual fuel in the high pressure fuel line.
Any spilled fuel must be completely wiped up immediately.
