Functions and operation of the Marathon ST training computer

ADJUSTING THE INCLINATION

By pressing (2) the INCLINE button (+), you can increase the
incline angle by 1 %.
By pressing (2) the INCLINE button (-), you can reduce the incli-
ne angle by 1 %.
When pressing this button for a longer time, the values will
automatically be displayed.
By pressing (1) the DIRECT INCLINE buttons 3%, 6%, 12% for
incline, you can set the incline directly.
Due to reasons of safety the incline angle can only be set manu-
ally. The following three programs are an exception of the afo-
rementioned: P1, P2 = incline programs and HRC (heart fre-
quency control program). Here, the incline angle is set automati-
cally. While entering the values the incline angle cannot be set.

ADJUSTING THE SPEED

By pressing (4) the SPEED button (+) during the training session,
the speed will be increased by 0.1 km/h (mph).
By pressing (4) the SPEED button (-) during the training session,
the speed will be reduced by 0.1 km/h (mph).
When pressing this button for a longer time, the values will
automatically be displayed.
By pressing (3) the DIRECT SPEED buttons WALK (4.0km/h /
2.5mph), JOG (8.0km/h / 5.0mph), and RUN (12km/h /
7.5mph) for the speed, you can set the speed directly.

PROGRAM SELECTION

While being in stop mode, you can use the buttons (7) SELECT
“<<“ and (8) “>>“ to select a program.

SCAN FUNCTION

The SCAN function allows for having the display values shown
in alternating manner.
Upon starting the display values are shown in an alternating
manner automatically. By pressing the (7) VIEW button, the
display switches to the next value. The display value remains in
the display. Re-pressing the (7) VIEW button causes the display
to switch to the next value. By pressing the (8) SCAN button,
the display is switched automatically.

RECOVERY FUNCTION

If a pulse signal is sent during the training session, you can use
the (5) RECOVERY button to trigger the RECOVERY function.
The treadmill will be stopped. First the pulse under load and
one minute afterwards the recovery pulse are measured and a
fitness mark is determined. When training on a constant level,
improving this note means increased levels of fitness.
In the round track a countdown of 60 seconds is displayed.

During this countdown the pulse value is shown in the value
display. After 60 seconds the display changes and the fitness
mark determined is displayed. After a period of approx. 16
seconds, the display switches into the pause mode.

Calculation of the fitness mark:

mark = 6 -

(

10 x (P1  – P2)

)

2

P1

P1= Load pulse, P2 = Recovery pulse
1.0 = Excellent
F6.0 = Unsatisfactory

STOP AND PAUSE FUNCTION

If you press (6) the STOP button during your training session,
the program will be interrupted and the pause mode will be
activated. After the treadmill has stopped completely, the TIME
display counts down from 03.00. Only the buttons (5) START
and (6) STOP are functional in pause mode.
If you press (5) the START button within three minutes after
having selected the pause mode, the treadmill will be restarted
and returns to the speed that had been activated before swit-
ching to the pause function. The training values will continue to
be counted and started from the point when the counting pro-
cess was stopped.
By pressing the (6) STOP button while being in pause mode,
you can have the training statistics shown. If no button is pres-
sed during the three minutes’ period, the treadmill automatically
exits the training program.

TRAINING STATISTICS

By pressing the (6) STOP button while being in pause mod, the
display shows your training statistics for 16 seconds. The value
display shows the overall time, the overall distance, and the
overall calories in an alternating manner. Afterwards, the
display is switched to the (6) STOP (6)p mode and is ready for
the next training session. If you do not want to view your trai-
ning statistics, press the (6) STOP button in order to cancel the
training statistics being displayed.

CALCULATION OF THE CALORIES

The calculation of the calories is a reference value. The calcula-
ted value makes no claims for medical precision.

MEASURING THE PULSE

The treadmill is equipped with a hand pulse sensor. In order to
provide for the hand pulse being measured properly, both hand
pulse sensors have to be enclosed slightly and completely with
