Perform the scan
Perform the following steps to scan internal channels. Note that menu items are selected
by placing the cursor (using
and
keys) on it and pressing ENTER. Parameter values
are changed using the cursor and RANGE keys and pressing ENTER. If you need more
information on navigating the menu structure, see “Menus”.
1.
Set up the Model 6517A for the desired measurement (i.e., function, range, filter,
etc.).
2.
Press CARD to display the internal scanner options (close channel or perform
scan).
3.
Select PERFORM-SCAN to display the scan types (internal or external).
4.
Select INTERNAL to display the scan count. The scan count indicates the number
of times the scan will be repeated.
5.
If desired, change the scan count and press ENTER.
6.
You will then be asked if you wish to use the scan timer to provide a time interval
between scans:
a.
Yes — To use the timer, select YES. The present interval (in seconds) will be
displayed. If desired, change the interval. Press ENTER to continue.
b.
No — If you do not wish to use the timer, select NO.
7.
You will then be asked if you wish to store the readings in the buffer:
a.
Yes — To use the buffer, select YES. A message indicating the number of
readings that will be stored in the buffer will be displayed. Press ENTER to
continue.
b.
No — If you do not wish to use the buffer, select NO.
8.
With the message “Press ENTER to begin” displayed, press ENTER to start the
scan.
9.
After the scan is finished, the following options are available:
a.
Recall data — If readings were stored in the buffer, select RECALL-DATA to
display the stored readings. Use the RANGE keys to scroll through the data
points.
b.
Scan again — If you wish to repeat the scan(s), select SCAN-AGAIN. Press
ENTER to start the scan.
c.
Exit — To return to the normal measurement mode, select EXIT. Note that
stored readings can still be displayed by pressing the RECALL key.
