• Never remove the rain cover when children are travelling in the bike trailer
• The bike and the trailer must never be driven without correct lighting when it is
dark Always comply with the rules in force
• Always use the flag when the bike trailer is connected to the bike
• A reflector which complies with the regulations in force must be fitted at the back
of the trailer, and must be visible at all times
• Fit the bike with a rear-view mirror so that the children can be monitored during
the trip
• Bear in mind that – depending on the weather conditions – it can be very cold or
hot in the trailer
• Take extra care when turning on uneven surfaces and cycling downhill
• Avoid cycling over kerbs Avoid bumps and holes Use appropriate hand signals to
show fellow road-users where you are going
• Never cycle on major or busy roads or in areas that are unsuitable for cycling
• Do not use the bike trailer when it is snowy or icy
• Do not cycle too fast and do not let the bike and trailer roll too fast downhill
• Do not cycle faster than can be regarded as safe We recommend never cycling
faster than 13 km/h, and reducing the speed to 5 km/h for bends High speed
makes it more difficult to control the bike and avoid obstacles in the roadway
• Ensure that the child is not able to access moving parts and that it is not possible
for the child’s clothes, shoelaces or toys to get caught anywhere
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PASSENGERS
Follow these instructions for a safe bike ride:
• It is important that the children are positioned securely and safely during the ride
The bike trailer’s seat is intended for passengers older than 12 months who are
capable of using an approved bicycle helmet
• The cover on the bike trailer must always be closed when cycling
• Children must be able to hold their head upright even when wearing a helmet If
uncertain, ask a child health centre whether it is suitable for the child to travel in
the trailer
• Check that the child is sitting securely and that the safety belt is properly fastened
• The child’s sitting height should be below the crossbar, and the belt’s length must
be adapted according to the child’s size
