SAFETY CHECK PRIOR TO USE
The following safety checks should be performed prior to each ride:
• Check the bike’s and the trailer’s condition prior to each use
• Check that the coupling is tightened
• Check that the safety straps for the coupling are correctly positioned
• USE THE SEAT BELTS! Check the seat belts and secure all other cargo
• WEAR A HELMET! Ensure that everybody is wearing a helmet and that they are
securely fastened
• Check that all tyres are properly inflated The tyres’ air pressure must always be
20–28 bar, or the value stated on the side of the tyres
• SAFETY WHEN CYCLING WITH A TRAILER
• Follow these guidelines for a safe cycle ride:
• Cycle slower than usual
• It takes longer to stop with trailer connected Start braking earlier Avoid sharp turns
• Use asphalted roads where possible Avoid cycling over kerbs, holes, uneven
surfaces and do not use the trailer off-road
• Always use the flag supplied to ensure that the trailer can be seen properly by
other road-users
GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
SAFETY FIRST! Check that both bike and trailer are in good condition prior to each
use If damaged, incorrectly fitted or missing parts are detected, the problem must be
rectified prior to use Read all warnings and guidelines for how the trailer is to be used
Be aware of the additional safety measures that are required for the entire bike and
trailer unit Follow these instructions for a safe bike ride
• Check the trailer before and after use The bike trailer must be maintained correctly
to be safe
• When the bike trailer is attached, ensure that the wheels are positioned correctly
and secured in accordance with the assembly instructions Inflate the tyres to the
pressure specified, and check the tyre pressure prior to each use If the stated tyre
pressure is exceeded, the bike trailer can bounce or overturn Only use tyres with
standard treads, never BMX or studded tyres
• Attach the tow hitch securely to the frame The tow hitch must be tightened
properly, and the safety straps wound around the frame and the hooks secured in
the D-ring
