Chapter 6: Communicating with a Desktop Computer
Using ActiveSync
®
1. Establish an ActiveSync connection. Once connected,
the Field PC acts like a new drive called “Mobile
Device” on the desktop computer.
2. To access the new “Mobile Device” drive (Field PC)
from the desktop computer, click
Tools
>
Explore
Pocket PC
in the ActiveSync window on your desktop
computer, as shown in the previous screen. To view
the file directory of the desktop computer, open File
Explorer on the desktop computer.
3. In the Mobile Device directory, highlight the files and
folders you want to copy to or from the Field PC,
right-click on one of the items, and select
Copy
from
the pop-up menu.
4. Navigate to the folder on the desktop computer or
Field PC where you want to place the copied files.
5. Drag and drop files between directories or right-click
on a blank area of the folder and select
Paste
from
the pop-up menu.
Exploring the Field PC
using ActiveSync
You can explore and manipulate files on the Field PC
from the desktop computer using ActiveSync.
To explore the Field PC, follow these steps:
1. Connect the Field PC to the desktop computer
with Microsoft ActiveSync using the instructions in
this chapter called
Reestablishing an ActiveSync
Connection
.
2. In the ActiveSync window on your desktop computer,
choose
Explore Pocket PC
from the Tools menu,
as shown in the following image. A list of folders
appears, similar to File Explorer.
