• When feeding material into the compost shredder take care that no foreign objects are included
• Do not allow processed material to build up in the discharge zone This may prevent proper discharge
and can result in material being ejected through the feed hopper
• If the machine becomes clogged, shut-off the power source and disconnect the compost shredder
from the power supply before clearing debris
• Ensure that all safety devices are in good condition
• When carrying out repairs to the cylinder, be aware that the cylinder can still be put into motion by a
manual starting mechanism, despite the interlock switch preventing the power source from engaging
• If the electric cable becomes damaged during use, the following instructions must be followed:
– Turn off the motor
– Disconnect the cable from the mains
• If an extension cord is used it shall not be of an inferior quality than the cord fitted to the compost
shredder
• Do not touch a damaged cord before it is disconnected from the mains A damaged cord can lead to
contact with live parts
• Do not touch the cylinder before the compost shredder has been disconnected from the mains supply
and it has come to a complete stop
• The compost shredder should be connected via a residual current device with a tripping current of not
more than 30 mA
• The compost shredder is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the compost shredder

The feed hopper must be properly fitted and secured before use
• Do not put your hands into the feed hopper and ejection slot
• Ensure that no foreign objects (such as stones, glass, metal, earth and plastics) are fed into the
shredder during operation; these objects could cause blunting of the cylinder and seriously damage
the motor Do not use your shredder for purposes other than that intended
• If the shredder starts to vibrate abnormally, switch off the motor and check for the cause immediately
Vibrations can be a warning of trouble
• Allow the machine to cool before making any inspections, adjustments, storing, etc
• Ensure the cylinder is secure before starting the shredder Do not operate the shredder if the cylinder
is not properly mounted
• The shredder should be checked carefully before use You should only work with a shredder that is in
good condition Check that all screws, nuts, bolts, and other fasteners are properly secured and that
all safety devices are in place If you notice any defect in the compost shredder that may cause danger
to the operator, the shredder must not be used until the fault has been rectified
• Make sure the shredder is on a flat surface before starting it Do not tilt the shredder when starting or
using it
• If the cylinder strikes any foreign objects or if the machine should start making any unusual noise or
vibration, shut off the power source, allow the machine to stop, and take the following steps:
– Inspect for damage
– Check and tighten any loose parts
• Replace worn or damaged parts to enhance safety Only use original spare parts
• Only use the shredder in places where it is protected from water and never use it outdoors in rainy
weather
• Store it in a dry secure place out of reach of children
• Before starting the compost shredder, check the feed hopper to make certain that it is empty
• Keep your face and body at a safe distance from the feed hopper’s opening
• Do not allow hands or any other part of the body or clothing inside the feed hopper, opening or
ejector, or near any moving part;
• Keep proper balance and footing at all times Do not overreach Never stand at a higher level than the
base of the compost shredder when feeding material into it
