5.0 Assembly
The Jøtul S
16
C/W comprises the following parts,

Part 1. Base plate
Part 2. Base
Part 3. Support plate,

Part 6. Side panels, 2 pcs.
Part 7. Cowling
Part 8. Side valves, 2 pcs.
Part 9. Steel plate
Part 10. Rockwool
Part 11. Top sections, 2 pcs.
Part 12. Short legs, 3 pcs.
Part 13. Back panel, base
(corner installation only)
Floor plate and shelf (marble) must be ordered separately.
The product is heavy! You will need help during assembly.
Assemble the insert as described in the installation and user
instructions (cat. no. 128975) that are included with the product.
It is recommended that prior to permanently attaching the insert
to the chimney, the surround is mounted dry in order to be able
to make any adjustments.
Because of different ceiling heights, the height of the surround
must be adjusted:
• The surround should be finished min. 20 mm from the
ceiling.
• If necessary, cut off a little from the top section.
Use the enclosed acrylic paste for all joints.

1. Place the base plate
(part 1)

2. Place the base
(part 2)
in position flush with the wall. Using
a spirit level correct any crookedness with glue, mortar or
small steel washers. It is imperative that the base is stable
and level.
3. Place the back panel base
(part 13)
and glue it to the wall.
4. Place the support plate
(part 3)
.
5. Unpack the insert. Take out the loose parts to make the
product less heavy. Also remove the ash lip and the bottom
frame situated at the rear of the combustion chamber. Close
the doors.
Assembly of the legs:
6. Place the wooden pallet and the cardboard packaging on the
floor and lay the fireplace carefully down on its back. Unscrew
the 3 screws which are screwed onto the underside of the
fireplace

Note! The cast iron legs are not to be used.
Attach the 3 short legs
(part 12)
by using the screws from the
underside of the fireplace. (Use the unthreaded holes.)
(Fig. 4A).

Screw the adjusting screws M10x45mm
(fig. 4B)
onto the short
legs. The screw heads should be facing downwards to fit into
the grooves in the bracket
(fig. 4C).
Screws and brackets are
delivered with the insert.
9. Stand the combustion chamber up.
10. Place the insert on the support plate
(part 3)
. Position the
brackets under the screw heads
(fig. 4C)
to protect the surface
and to prevent the insert from slipping out of place.
Fitting the bottom frame

11. Remove the knob on the bar for the lower air vent
(fig. 5A)
.
12. Place the bottom frame
(fig. 5B)
so that the bar passes through
the hole in the frame.
13. Fasten the bottom frame with 2 screws M6x12 mm
(fig. 5C)
and refit the knob.
Assembly of the flue connecting pipe:
14. The flue connecting pipe
(fig. 6A)
, which is packed in the
box, shall be placed on the top of the fireplace. Place the flue
connecting pipe in such a manner that the screw attached to
it
(fig. 6D)
, is facing outwards.
15. Place one clamp iron
(fig. 6B)
on each side. Fasten with a screw
M8x30mm and a nut
(fig. 6C)
.
16. Place the marble bench plate
(part 4)
.
17. Test mount the side panels
(part 6)
and
the small side panels
(part 5).
Make sure that the insert is centred in relation to the
side panels and the base. There should be approximately 1-2
mm between the panels and the insert. If necessary, use the
adjusting screws on the insert legs.
Remember that the ash
lip is not mounted!
18. Remove the side panels.
19. Mark where the hole in the chimney is to be located and mount
the flue insert and flue pipe according to regulations.
Remember that there shall be a minimum incline of 2% towards
the chimney.
20. Mount the side panels

and the small side pane

behind the insert frame and glue them to the wall.
21. Place and adjust the cowling
(part 7)
.
22. Mount the two valves
(part 8)
on each side of the cowling
and fasten them with acrylic glue. The valve openings must
be facing foreward.
23. Lay first the steel plate and then the rockwool
(part 10)
over
the opening on top of the cowling. If steel chimney is to be
used, see point «
5.3 Steel chimney».
24. Place the two top sections
(part 11)
.
There must be an opening
of min. 20 mm between the top section and the ceiling.
