5.9 FASTENING
Where applicable, the cables and the conductors shall be clamped to the structure with cable ties.
5.10 PRECAUTIONS
Prior to, during, and after installation the equipment must be handled with care. And protected against acidic fluids, pollu-
tion, moisture, impacts etc.
This is in order to avoid damage to the equipment and consequent voiding of the warrantee.
5.11 CABLE REQUIREMENTS
All cables used in the MPA system must be of approved ship cable type.
REQUIREMENTS:

A common outer screen

Individually twisted pairs
•
Recommended conductor size is 0.75 mm²
•
All cabling in the MPA must be a separate network.
•
Do not combine different systems in the same cable. This is to prevent disturbance and noise caused by interference.
SCREEN CONNECTION
In order to obtain good performance after installation, it is necessary to terminate the cables and ground the screens in
a good manner. The cables are to be ripped by removing approximately 400 mm of the outer insulation. The individual
conductors are to be stripped and ferruled before they are inserted into the terminals. The outer screens are to be connected
to the PE busbar in the bottom of the cabinet.
6 CONFIGURATION
6.1 INTRODUCTION
The MPA-system is a flexible marine and offshore Public Address and General Alarm system. This flexibility is exposed via a
simple and easy web-configuration tool, accessible from any computer with a web-browser.
This configuration tool allows the appropriate personnel to set up amplifiers, access panels and priorities for these, alarms
and priorities for these, network settings, monitoring settings and more.
Care must be taken with the configuration if the system shall comply with specific type approval requirements. An example
of a IMO/SOLAS-compliant configuration is documented in the Operating Procedure in this document.
6.2 ACCESSING THE CONFIGURATION TOOL
The configuration tool is accessible through any standard web-browser.
Please note that the recommended minimum resolution for the web-interface is 1280 x 1024 pixels.
