Replace engine oil and engine oil filter
NOTICE
• Only use the engine oil specified. Other engine
oils may affect warranty coverage, cause internal
engine components to seize and/or shorten
engine life.
• Prevent dirt and debris from contaminating the
engine oil. Carefully clean the oil cap/dipstick and
the surrounding area before you remove the cap.
• Never mix different types of engine oil. This may
adversely affect the lubricating properties of the
engine oil.
• Never overfill. Overfilling may result in white
exhaust smoke, engine overspeed or internal
damage.
NOTICE
• Always be environmentally
responsible.
• Follow the guidelines of the EPA or other
governmental agencies for the proper disposal of
hazardous materials such as engine oil, diesel
fuel and engine coolant. Consult the local
authorities or reclamation facility.
• Never dispose of hazardous materials
irresponsibly by dumping them into a sewer, on
the ground, or into ground water or waterways.
• Failure to follow these procedures may seriously
harm the environment.
Change the engine oil every 250 hours of operation
after the initial change at 50 hours. Replace the
engine oil filter at the same time.
See Replace engine oil and engine oil filter on
page 66.

Check and clean radiator fins
CAUTION
Flying Object Hazard!
• Always wear eye protection
when servicing the engine and
when using compressed air or
high-pressure water. Dust,
flying debris, compressed air,
pressurized water or steam may
injure your eyes.
• Failure to comply may result in minor or
moderate injury.
Dirt and dust adhering to the radiator fins reduce
the cooling performance, causing overheating.
Make it a rule to check the radiator fins daily and
clean as needed.
Note that a typical radiator is shown in Figure 11
for illustrative purposes only.
• Blow off dirt and dust from fins and radiator with
28 PSI (0.19 MPa, 2 kgf/cm
2
) or less of
compressed air (Figure 11, (1)). Be careful not to
damage the fins with the compressed air.
Figure 11
• If there is a large amount of contamination on the
fins, apply detergent, thoroughly clean and rinse
with tap water.
