Avoid Injury.

edge when opening the Clamping
Fixture.

will cause skin burns; use caution.
Wear safety glasses and use caution
when handling knives and trim tools.
Troughing Groove Overview
A troughing groove can cause a slight sag in the
belt top surface that can affect splicing quality.

When splicing belts with troughing grooves
wider than 2" (50 mm), consider including
these steps in the procedure at the beginning or
if belt top surfaces are not aligned.
FABRICATION TIP
Splice on the carryway with drive bars
face down for best results.
Shim the Grooved Deck
FABRICATION TIP
If belt top surfaces are
not flush (vertically
misaligned) where troughing grooves meet
,
shim the Grooved Deck with Painters’ tape.
Use these guidelines to shim Grooved Decks
during belt end alignment.
Tape Length:
Start with a piece of tape about
the same length as the belt width.
Tape Placement:
Center the tape along the
length of the Grooved Deck. Adhere the tape
next to the first Grooved Deck groove so it
extends past the Deck edge.
