SPECIAL USE
The Sigma
7
operates much like a standard telephone device. Functions such as initiating calls,
answering calls, and disconnecting calls are accomplished using familiar procedures. Five special-
function keys are provided to add conveniences and other features:
1. On/Answer
The <
On
> button will permit the user to answer an incoming call or take the phone off-hook to place
a new call. This button allows the phone to operate out of the cradle and allows the user to set the
phone on a desk or other convenient location for easy access.
2. Off
The <
Off
> button allows the user to terminate a call that has been answered when the handset is
out of its cradle. This button terminates the call and turns off the phone, allowing the phone to be
set down without replacing it in the cradle. Any time the handset is returned to the cradle, any
existing call will be disconnected and the handset hung up.
3, Flash
The <
Flash
> button provides a momentary line interruption of about one-half second (500 ms). This
in most cases allows the caller to transfer or set up a conference call with others. This, however,
does not terminate the current call; instead, it places the call on hold until the user finishes his
commands to transfer, conference, or repeat the <
Flash>
signal again.
4. Digits 0–9, *, and #
The digits
0
–
9,
*
,
and
#
allow the user to dial Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) digits. This allows
the user to dial a destination number, cabin number, or other destination easily. The phone will
provide a DTMF digit to the line for as long as the caller presses the key on the keypad.
